Nail Clipping & Filing vs. Nail Dremel: Which One Is Right?
Most pets do fine with standard nail clipping. We clip each nail, then follow up with nail filing to smooth the tip. Nails clipped this way stay comfortable and don't snag on carpet or skin. The whole thing takes under ten minutes for a cooperative dog.
For pets that flinch or pull away from the clipper, nail grinding with a dremel is often the better call. The dremel works by sanding the nail down gradually instead of making a sudden cut. A lot of owners are surprised how much calmer their dog stays during a nail trim and grind compared to traditional nail cutting. We'll talk through both options when you come in and pick the one that fits your pet.
Walk-In Nail Trims β No Appointment Needed
We built our walk-in nail trim service around real Chicago IL schedules. You shouldn't have to book a week out just to get nails trimmed. Stop in when it works for you and we'll take care of it. Nail trim walk-in only visits are quick, usually done in fifteen minutes or less.
We also offer a nail trim and buff add-on if you want that extra smooth finish after the clip. Nails trimmed and filed this way stay smooth longer and are less likely to scratch people or furniture. Check out our full grooming menu if you want to combine the nail trim with a bath or brush-out while you're here.
