West Ridge runs along the far north side of Chicago, roughly bordered by Peterson Avenue to the south and Howard Street to the north. The neighborhood has a dense, lived-in feel with tree-lined blocks, bungalows, and a mix of long-time residents and newer families. Devon Avenue cuts straight through the heart of it, known for its stretch of South Asian and Middle Eastern shops, grocery stores, and restaurants. It's a busy, working neighborhood where people take care of their homes and their pets.
Chicago winters hit West Ridge hard. The area gets the same punishing cold that blows off Lake Michigan, and pets that spend any time outside come in with matted coats, dry skin, and paws caked with salt and ice melt. Spring and fall aren't gentle either. That freeze-thaw cycle does a number on a dog's coat, and cats that go near windows or drafty spots can end up with dry, flaky skin. Regular grooming isn't just cosmetic here. It keeps your pet comfortable through the season changes that Chicago throws at everyone.
